MPC XL vs MPC X, and MPC 3.7’s biggest new feature

MPC XL is here, and you can see where the XL comes from. It’s the next-generation large-format MPC, replacing the previous-generation MPC X and X SE, and it’s even bigger.

Like the MPC LIVE III, new on the hardware side, are the MPCe expressive pads, the new touch strip, the new step buttons for sequencing and a few other functions, and internally, a second-generation processor, double the storage and RAM than Live III, and all the new software features, including advanced stem separation and the propack features including the clip matrix.

Also, compared to the MPC X, it’s got a different Q-Link knob layout that aligns the Q-links with the step sequencer, plus more buttons and VU meters.

In this video I take a look at it in detail, important new features in firmware 3.7 that make the MPCe pads even more usable, and pros and cons overall compared to the competition and previous MPCs.
